Khloe and Lamar: True Love or Kardashian Kurse?

A Los Angeles harem of hair extensions is quickly racking up a list of rejected, has-been athletes thrown by the wayside. Khloe Kardashian may be next in line for a relationship train wreck only befitting of a reality star. As the only semi-tolerable Kardashian sister, dare we say, we feel a bit sorry for Khloe as rumors circle about her and NBA star Lamar Odom heading for break up city. Scratch that. We don’t feel sorry for anyone making millions of dollars to prance from city to city in free clothes, rake in endorsement deals, while each week, broadcasting a fabricated version of a so-called marriage.
Khloe is a likable character in a family of plastic princesses, because she almost verges on normal. With the most junk in the trunk of any of her sisters, Khloe also seems to have the most brain power. Her daily blog walks the line between advertorial and E-news, but does have an honest, frank approach making it somewhat believable. (If you don’t mind that every entry begins with “Hi Dolls!”.) But after relocating to Dallas to be with Lamar full-time, his game is off and sources say their romance is stressed. Meanwhile, Khloe is trying to keep busy hosting a show on a local Dallas radio station – which for someone of her media value might just as well be a Tupperware party.
While most reality stars are known to have their “on camera” personas that run parallel to their private lives – some with stricter boundaries than others – not many couples succeed in both worlds. Heck, a regular marriage with your mother-in-law spying on you – much less a herd of paparazzi – is hard enough!
With mama Kardashian as executive producer and queen biatch of the family jewels, she might just let her daughters do anything for attention. Kris has no doubt created an indomitable empire earning bazillions on kollections including everything from diet pills to Sears pajamas – but she comes up short when trying to sell us on love.
With Kim’s 72-day marriage and divorce debacle a cautionary tale of what not to do, Kris will be carefully orchestrating every move in the marriage of Khloe and Lamar. Another high profile baller break up for the fam might not slow down their world domination, but may further cement the legend of the Kardashian Kurse. Kim for one went from being a hot ticket to the butt (no pun intended) of jokes by late night hosts, and has already struck out with Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin.
For the sake of Khloe, and to spare us from another debate about the etiquette of returning wedding gifts, let’s hope their marriage can avoid the kurse. We’d love to see Khloe and Lamar churn out a brood of tall, big bottomed kidashians before someone feeds Snooki’s offspring after midnight and baby meatballs take over the planet.
